Carry the Torch Campaign

In response to the overwhelming statistics plaguing the African American community, Jumbe Prep has launched the Carry The Torch campaign to save what some call “the lost generation”.

While suffering through millenniums of oppression, African Americans constantly fought to make progress. Their quest for freedom and equality resulted in the opportunities most enjoy today. Although things are not perfect, we can all agree there has been substantial improvement.

Today, a new challenge exists. African American communities have been decimated by a crippling high school drop-out rate, HIV/AIDS and crime. Without intervention, these problems threaten to claim a generation of African American people.

Statistics

• 49% of all reported HIV/AIDS cases in the United States are Black people
• Over 90% of Black victims are killed by Blacks
• Blacks represent less than 12% of the US population; but over 40% of the prison population

The Carry The Torch Crusade was developed to address the needs of the African American community.

Carry The Torch is not charity, it’s an agenda. When you buy a shirt, featuring the Jumbe Torch, the proceeds go toward empowering the African American community and developing a new generation of African American leaders, professionals and entrepreneurs that will carry the torch into the future.
